Inspired by Wire … the Latest Trend for Interiors
Posted on Thu, Jun 21, 2012 @ 07:52 AM
As the trend toward all things industrial continues to gain prominence, we’re seeing an influx of furniture and accessories showing the influence of wire.
Wire took many forms at the Hospitality Design Expo in May, as we saw Urban Farmhouse chandeliers and chicken wire-like globes with bare bulbs ...
… and mid-century light fixtures and groovy wall ornaments.
This trend just isn’t for commercial interiors. Wire can be easily incorporated in residential design, especially in kitchens (which, due to their hardworking nature, tend to naturally have industrial elements incorporated by design). Wire baskets, pendant lighting, stools and chairs and more all add industrial chic to kitchens. In fact, this trend made its way into our latest 180fx® and IdealEdge™ photo shoot!
Not sure what wire options are right for you? The below Houzz gallery provides great examples of wire-made product options for the home.
Homeowners whose style preferences lean toward “Modern Farmhouse” vs. Industrial can apply the wire trend to interiors by using chicken wire. We've seen storage baskets and accessories made of chicken wire, as well as chicken wire motiffs on wallpaper and textiles. One way to incorporate chicken wire in the kitchen is to use it on cabinet fronts, as seen below.
