Retro Reinvented for Commercial Furniture

For those of you with an affinity for 50s, 60s and 70s style – the latest commercial furniture collections that debuted at this year’s NeoCon, Hospitality Design Expo (HD Expo) and International Contemporary Furniture Fair were made for you. While walking the shows, Formica Corporation captured a few of our favorite examples of throwback design to share with you:
Retro colors were refreshed, trending more orange-red and mustard green.
Rounded shapes were inviting ...
… while dark woods added sophistication.

Chair and table legs in shiny chrome reflected retro style and …
… wire formations, such as those used in wall art and lighting, were mid-century chic in silver and antique brass tones.
Many manufacturers also celebrated milestones with new furniture and historical displays. Steelcase celebrated its 100-year anniversary while Herman Miller celebrated its rich history of textile design.
Bernhardt Design introduced Charles Pollock’s first new product for an American company in 47 years, the CP Lounge Collection.
We’ll be celebrating our own 100-year anniversary starting January 2013 – mum’s the word on what’s in store. Meanwhile, check out some of our favorite modern-day, retro-inspired commercial laminate patterns.
