We bought a solid surfacing countertop in 2009 because of the added sink and the cost. I have been so disappointed with it and would NOT recommend this product. The first time my husband placed a hot pan above it, not even on it, we had a white ring. I have tried recommended repairs/refreshes and they don't work.

Thanks for reaching out. Typically, the scenario you described would not cause solid surfacing to discolor, unless the pan was extremely hot and held very close to the surface, as to heat up the solid surface to about 400 degrees F. Dark colored tops may appear to have a whitish area if damaged by extreme heat. In addition, any surface polish that was removed may contribute to the coloration issue.

Understanding that you’ve tried various at-home fixes, we recommend that you consult with our service provider, Surface Link, at 800-482-1774. They can provide specific feedback on whether the damage is repairable. You also can call our technical services department at 1-800-FORMICA™ and we’re happy to talk through the issue with you.
